CompetentRoofer - For Avonside Direct Retail Customers Only
CompetentRoofer is the prime Government-approved scheme for England and Wales that legally allows professional roofing contractors to self-certify for Building Regulations for refurbishment roofing work. This encompasses all roofing types for domestic, industrial and commercial properties and the scheme is open to all roofing contractors to apply.
Many jobs undertaken need to be notified to and authorised by Local Authority Building Control (LABC) and in many cases this includes work done to your roof. By using a CompetentRoofer member, property owners will save not only time and money but will have the added reassurance that the work carried out meets the exacting standards of Building Regulations.

Safemark has been developed to help home builders meet their obligation to only appoint competent contractors and to help contractors to prove their competence.
The scheme is a pre-qualification assessment designed around the requirements of Appendix 4 of the Approved Code of Practice to (CDM07). Competence is assessed against the criteria set out in Stage 1 including, amongst others, the requirements for contractors to have a health and safety policy, access to competent health and safety advice and to ensure employees are appropriately trained.
